meibukan, gojuryu, martial arts, karateMeibukan is a system of Goju-ryu karate-do that was created by Dai Sensei YAGI Meitoku. Dai Sensei was a student of Goju-ryu's founder, Master Chojun Miyagi. Meibukan means "House of the pure-minded warrior."

YAGI Sensei opened the first Meibukan dojo in 1952. He was the first student of Chojun Miyagi, Goju RyuMIYAGI Sensei recorded to be given permission to establish his own dojo. At this time, he was given the Calligraphy Oku myo zai ren shin which means "Practice With A Good Heart." by a Shodo Master who was a friend of Miyagi Sensei, and from that time on Meitoku Yagi continued to train and teach authentic Okinawan Meitoku Yagi,Meibukan, goju ryuGoju Ryu that focussed on kata training, body conditioning, and kumité drills. YAGI Sensei is the recognised Menkyo Kaden of the Goju-ryu style as he was the recipient Miyagi Sensei's gi and obi in 1963 ten years after his death.

Clemente Cristofoli trained personally under the late Grandmaster, Dai Sensei Meitoku Yagi in Okinawa at the Hombu Dojo. This constitutes a direct link through three generations to the founder of Goju Ryu and the Naha Te or Nafa Di traditions.

Cristofoli Sensei has travelled back to Okinawa many times to train with, not only Dai Sensei, but also his sons Meitatsu and Meitetsu both of whom are masters in their own right as well as other Meibukan masters.

Cristofoli Sensei learnt from Dai Sensei Meitoku Yagi and teaches Meibukan Goju Ryu at the Meibukan Hombu Dojo Australia, as it was taught to him at the Meibukan Hombu Dojo in Naha, Okinawa.
